APSA is here to provide an education for all Australian coaches

APSA has approved mentors across a range of areas in figure skating. Our mentors are part of the APSA Coach Connect program. Their role is not just to

help those required to complete Mentor hours for accreditation levels but also to assist you throughout your coaching career.

Mentors have been approved for each level of accreditation.

Mentoring hours do not all need to be completed face to face. You may wish to reach out to a mentor from another rink or State. This can be done via phone,

zoom, email, sharing of videos, reviews of videos submitted etc.

APSA has taken a number of areas into consideration when selecting the Mentors for Coach Connect. These include:

- coaching experience

- knowledgeable in the areas they are approved to mentor in

- in good standing with APSA (i.e no serious complaints, probation period or suspension during the past 10 years

- strong English language skills

- no longer competing (APSA may at its discretion approve a mentor who is still competing taking into consideration their experience and knowledge)

- Understanding and experience of skill development and progression from the grassroots level through to higher competitive levels and the importance

this plays in assisting skaters to fulfil their goals and potential.

We fully understand the difficulties in obtaining the full 60 hours required mentoring hours with an APSA approved mentor and as such have

approved that a minimum of 40 hours MUST be conducted with an APSA approved Mentor with the remaining hours approved to be conducted by

an APSA Intermediate Accredited coach (Level 2) or higher.
